Packing an air-gapped kit for a Seoul-to-elsewhere flight
How experienced holders split spend and vault devices before security lines—without improvising at the gate.
Incheon mornings reward people who packed the night before. An air-gapped kit that lives in one stylish pouch is convenient until that pouch becomes a single point of loss.
Split by role, not by aesthetics
If a device can move rent money, it should not share a pocket with the vault signer. Faraday bags are not interchangeable labels—write the role on a discreet tag you understand. During multi-device reviews we often discover both units riding in the same laptop sleeve “just for this trip.”
What stays home
Metal seed plates, laminated recovery sheets, and unused passphrase reminders belong in their ordinary secure place. A flight is a poor time to consolidate every secret “so nothing is left behind.”
At the checkpoint
Expect to power devices on if asked. Rehearse a calm explanation: hardware wallet, personal funds, no special treatment required. Keep cables ordinary. If a co-owner holds the vault device in another city, say so in your pre-trip checklist so you are not tempted to reunite them mid-journey.
After landing
Re-verify firmware notes before the first signature in a new hotel desk environment. Update the signing log with a “travel day — no spend” row even when you authorize nothing; future-you will thank the negative space.
